Dog Photography,
Done Right
Perth’s Go-To for Pet Photography
Your dog is a part of your everyday in a way nothing else is. Always there, always themselves. The zoomies, the side-eyes, the selective hearing, and that look that says they absolutely run the house. That’s where the magic is. And it’s exactly what we’re here to photograph, their personality, your connection, and the way they’ve woven themselves into your world. In images that don’t just look like them, but feel like them.
We’re dog specialists through and through. That said, if your cat has strong opinions about being photographed, your rabbit considers themselves a serious subject, or your guinea pig has real main character energy, we’d love to hear from you.
Because that face deserves a proper portrait.
Bring the whole family
And if your dog is part of a bigger family picture, bring everyone. Dogs are welcome in any family session, and honestly they often make the whole thing easier. Something about having the dog there settles everyone down, gets the kids laughing, and gives teenagers something to do other than look awkward. If you’ve been putting off a family session because you weren’t sure how to include your dog, that’s not a problem here. It’s just how we do things.
Where we shoot
Sessions can be held wherever
suits your dog best.
Out and about
Perth spoils us for choice. Beaches, parks, riverfronts, leafy suburbs — if your dog is happiest with space to move and something interesting to sniff, an outdoor session is for you. We know the locations, we’ll handle the logistics, and we’re very used to dogs who have their own ideas about where to go next.
In the studio
Our Myaree studio is calm, controlled, and purpose-built for portraits that let your dog’s personality do the talking. Classic backdrops, beautiful light, and nowhere to zoom off to. If you want something timeless and wall-ready, this is it.

At home
Some dogs are just more themselves at home. On the couch, in the garden, in their spot by the back door. A home session captures not just your dog but the life you’ve built together, which is often the most meaningful kind of portrait there is.
Your dog doesn't need to be perfect
What we do need is a dog who is comfortable around new people and can take direction, even if they’d rather not. Basic recall and a loose lead are helpful. A flawless sit-stay is not required. We’ve photographed dogs who zoom, dogs who sniff everything, dogs who are deeply suspicious of the camera, and dogs who are so excited they forget their own name. We know how to read them, work with them, and find the moments worth capturing. For everything else, you’re in very safe hands.

Frequently asked questions
Do you work with anxious or reactive dogs?
It depends on the dog. We’re experienced with nervous dogs and know how to create a slow, low pressure environment that helps them settle. What we can’t safely accommodate is a dog who is genuinely distressed or a risk to themselves, other people, or our team. If you’re unsure whether your dog is suitable, just get in touch and we’ll have an honest conversation about it.
What if my dog won't sit still?
That’s most dogs, honestly. We work at their pace, use plenty of patience, and know how to find the good moments in between the chaos. A dog who won’t sit still can still give you an incredible portrait. We just need them to be comfortable and responsive enough to work with.
Can my dog come to the studio, or is it outdoor only?
Both. Our Myaree studio is a great option for classic, timeless portraits in a calm controlled environment. We also shoot on location across Perth, from beaches and parks to riverfronts and your own backyard. We’ll help you decide which suits your dog best.
How should I prepare my pet for the session?
A good walk beforehand goes a long way. A tired dog is a much more cooperative dog. Bring their favourite treats and any toys that reliably get their attention. Skip the bath the day before if your dog tends to roll in things immediately afterwards. And if they have a comfort item or a favourite person who helps them settle, bring both.
What's the best age for pet photos?
Honestly, now. Dogs change faster than we expect and there’s no perfect age to wait for. That said, if your dog is a puppy we’d suggest waiting until they’ve had their vaccinations and had a little time to settle into themselves. Older dogs make for some of the most beautiful portraits, so if your dog is getting on in years, don’t wait.
My cat hates the car. Can you come to us?
Yes. A home session is often the best option for cats anyway, since they’re almost always more relaxed and more themselves on their own turf. Get in touch and we’ll chat through what that looks like.
Can I bring multiple pets?
Absolutely. Multiple pets are welcome, and we’ll work through the session in a way that gives each of them a moment to shine. Just let us know when you enquire so we can allow the right amount of time.
