Quinn and Geordie are a mother and son pair of Jack Russells, ten years old and six, and they arrived at the Myaree studio with a dad who had set expectations early. Asked on his questionnaire how well the two of them follow commands, he wrote that they do so loosely, they are Jack Russells after all.

Looking for a more classic session, no theme, no props, nothing staged. He wanted good pictures of his dogs that their face markings be highlighted, because both dogs carry them and no two Jack Russells wear them quite the same way.

Quinn & Geordie both dogs dislike loud noises, and one of them can be wary of strangers on the odd occasion, which in a studio means the fastest route to a good photograph is to be thoroughly boring for a while. No sudden movements, no big greeting, nothing dropped on a hard floor. We let them work the room, sniff the plinth, decide we were furniture, and only then did the camera come up.

Once we’d nailed the classic portraits, we had a little fun, the bubbles came out, and so did their personalities 🤣

Capturing both the classic portrait and the personalities is exactly what we aim for in every single session.

In twenty years these will not be remembered as the photographs where the markings came out well, although they did. They will be the photographs of the year the pair of them were ten and six, both fit, both bright eyed, one of them still able to get that far off the ground ❤️.
