Lilypad Photography » Contemporary children's portraiture

frequently asked . . . . .

My daughter/son/baby/husband is full of “character” and I’m worried we won’t get any nice shots.

No need to worry about that at all – that’s my job!  Quite seriously though, all children are full of character and some are harder to capture than others, but my sleeves are really long and full of tricks to get the best out of your little ones.  Your job is to relax, smile, and leave the kids to me.

How early do I need to book to secure my preferred date?

It depends.  To avoid any pressure on our time I only book one session per day and as I have young children I also do a limited number of sessions each week .  Sometimes I can be booked out six weeks in advance and other times I can be available that weekend.  If you have a specific time in mind, it’s best to contact me as soon as possible.  If you’re expecting, it’s especially important to contact me as early in your pregnancy as  possible; although I schedule the sitting by due date, I will fit you in before your baby is 2 weeks old no matter when he or she arrives.

My baby has a mark/rash/scratch bruise–should I wait for to have portraits taken?

Definitely not!  It is much more important to capture your baby at the best age than to wait for the portraits.  Our custom hand-crafting includes retouching (that is removing) any marks, rashes or scratches, unless of course you tell us not to.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Absolutely. Gift vouchers begin at $200.

Do you do gift registries?

Absolutely. If you’re having a baby shower, birthday or any event I’m am happy to set up a personal gift registry for you.  I will provide you with gorgeous cards to include with your invitations or to send to your friends.  Your friends can contribute any amount to your registry and you will be presented with the final voucher beautifully packaged to be opened at your event or when agreed.

How much will it cost for our portraits?

It really depends on your individual needs and what you’d like to do with the images from your session.  I do NOT have a minimum spend and I am allergic to high pressure sales that make you feel like you bought more than you wanted.   I believe my photography speaks for itself and my job is to help you select the best images and products for your home.  I provide my full price list to all clients before they book their session, and there are no surprises.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions are non refundable but may be transferred to a different date.  I understand that children can become sick and am happy to reschedule, subject to availability.
